What is Palliative Care?

Palliative care, also referred to as end-of-life care, encompasses a range of supportive measures given to individuals who have a terminal illness or are in the advanced stages of their lives, which may arise from a gradual decline in health or complex health conditions.

The main objective of palliative care is to provide solace, assistance, and relief from pain and other symptoms experienced by the individual. This care ensures that the person’s dignity is maintained, and their preferences and desires are honoured.

In addition, palliative care extends its support to the loved ones of those receiving care, enabling them to spend quality time together and offering the necessary assistance and support to navigate through an emotionally challenging period.
