Furry Friends Bring Joy to Valerian Court Residents

At Valerian Court, the power of animal companionship is celebrated through the Pets with Purpose program, where furry visitors bring smiles and joy to residents lives.

Among the cherished regular visitors are Kimba the Tibetan Spaniel, accompanied by Stephanie, and Sydney the Labradoodle, with treat provider Mike. These lovable dogs enchant residents with their friendly demeanour, sparking fond memories and heartwarming stories of pets past. Residents and team members both eagerly await their visits, showering Kimba and Sydney with affection and treats!

But it's not just dogs who steal the spotlight at Valerian Court. Hannah from Cuddly Cavies brings along her cuddly companions, guinea pigs that quickly win over the hearts of residents. From feeding to grooming, residents revel in the gentle interactions with these furry friends, finding it hard to part with them at the end of the visit.

Adding to the excitement is Poppy the Dinky Pony, whose arrival in her pink, sparkly shoes captivated residents and brought smiles all around. The diverse range of animal visitors not only entertains but also uplifts spirits, boosts confidence, and enhances overall wellbeing among residents.

"Our team thrives on witnessing the individual joy residents display when they interact with these animals," says Sandra, activities coordinator at Valerian Court. "These visits are not only fun but also vital in fostering a sense of connection and happiness."

In the coming months, Valerian Court has an exciting lineup of animal visits planned, including Denver the Newfoundland, a hatching kit from Incredible Eggs, and the return of Dinky Ponies. Relatives and friends are encouraged to join their loved ones during these special visits, creating cherished memories together. For more information on upcoming animal visits or to get involved in the Pets with Purpose program, contact Sandra or email activities@valeriancourtcare.co.uk. At Valerian Court, the joy of furry companionship knows no bounds, enriching the lives of residents every day.

In the coming months, Valerian Court will be opening our doors to the local community in an opening evening, which is a chance for prospective residents and their loved ones to have a tour of the home, whilst experiencing some of the activities first-hand, with some live music, cheese and wine. As well as this, on Saturday 11th May 2024, we will be holding a carwash, to support The Didcot Powerhouse Fund. So if your car needs a clean, get down to Valerian Court Care Home to help us support a good cause.
