With the 2026 World Cup underway, football has certainly become a popular topic of conversation here at Valerian Court. After watching England’s opening match together, residents were inspired to bring a little of that excitement into the home and test their own football skills in a fun and friendly session.

A Football-Filled Afternoon

Under the enthusiastic guidance of our football-loving carer, Yedu, residents enjoyed practising a few impressive shots on goal in our lounge. There was plenty of encouragement and light-hearted competition throughout, with everyone cheering one another on and sharing lots of laughter along the way.

Practising Skills Together

The session gave residents the chance to get involved at their own pace, whether they were taking part in the activities or simply enjoying the atmosphere and cheering from the side, creating a lively and inclusive afternoon that was full of energy.

Gentle exercise like this is a great way to support mobility and coordination while keeping activity enjoyable and accessible. Light exercise helps boost mood and confidence, especially when it is paired with a shared interest like football and enjoyed in a social setting.
