Christmas Tree at Valerian Court

Festive Preparations

As the year comes to a close, Valerian Court Care Home is bringing in the festive spirit with a series of festive events and lively performances throughout December, making this second Christmas at Valerian Court a highlight of 2023.

The festivities kicked off with a Breakfast with Santa event, bringing together the children of staff and young family members of residents. The atmosphere was enriched by the tunes of the local ukulele group, The Dukes, who delighted both guests and residents with their musical talents.

Valerian Court also opened its doors to the community for a Festive Fair, transforming the home into a festive market. Local stallholders offered a variety of products, creating a unique shopping experience for residents and visitors alike. The stalls featured a delightful range of knitted items, cards, engraved slates, chocolates, crocheted goods, and books. A horsebox selling hot drinks added to the cheery atmosphere of the fair.

The home was serenaded by the voices of the Ladygrove Park Primary School choir, Karina and her ukuleles, and the Didcot Girls School Chamber Choir. The festive mood was elevated by saxophone tunes performed by Simeon, offering a mix of festive and familiar melodies.

Revd Debbie Lord, accompanied by Revd Andy Lord, led a heartwarming carol service, adding a touch of spiritual warmth to the celebrations. The local community choir, Vocalize, also showcased their harmonious voices, contributing to a delightful evening for everyone.

As the Christmas season continues, the care home looks forward to hosting more exciting activities and events and spreading the spirit of celebration. Head to our Facebook page to find out what we get up to each week.

The team at Valerian Court wishes you a very merry Christmas and a happy new year!
