Exploring Didcot & The Surrounding Areas

Didcot is a wonderful place to live and we are proud to be located in such a charming location. Our residential care home is close to the local shops, pubs and attractions in and around Didcot. As Didcot is famous for its railway, a highly recommended day out involves visiting the Didcot Railway Centre where you can learn about the unique collection of steam trains, carriages and wagons spanning over 21 acres.

Those who love a trip to the theatre once in a while will enjoy visiting Cornerstone which is an art, cultural and entertainment venue in Didcot. As Oxfordshire is known for being full of history, there are many historic monuments that are worth a visit such as Windsor Castle, Oxford University and Highclere Castle which many know as the backdrop for Downton Abbey.

What is Residential Care?

Residential Care means individuals live in a group setting as opposed to living by themselves. Those who need assistance with everyday tasks or help with mobility or personal care will greatly benefit from residential care. Residential care is a 24/7 care service that allows residents to live independently and have the freedom to carry out their passions without worrying about daily chores.

Residents who choose to receive residential care can treat Valerian Court as their own home and live each day the way they want to, making use of the many services and amenities available that support their interests as well as allowing them to form strong bonds with others that share a similar lifestyle.

Residential Care at Valerian Court

Our highly trained team will go out of their way to make each day as pleasurable as the next. From the delicious food provided at meal times to the way beds are made, no detail gets overlooked. We want residents to feel fulfilled in the opportunities presented to them, whether it’s learning a new skill, gaining a new interest or meeting a new friend.

Each of our residents gets a personalised care plan created for them that outlines all of their care needs and preferences. If care needs change over time, we will evaluate their current circumstances and amend care plans accordingly, we also ensure relatives are happy with the changes.

Nursing Care

Nursing Care is the most appropriate care type for people who need constant medical assistance and personal care. Residents living at our nursing home will receive the highest levels of person-centred care at all hours of the day and night. Our team of skilled nurses go above and beyond to meet all care and well-being needs in a safe and supportive environment.

Our dedicated nursing team can provide specialist care for those with high dependency needs such as physical disabilities, long-term health conditions and critical illnesses as well as provide palliative care. Our home has the most up-to-date nursing equipment including profiling beds, hoists and nurse call systems which aids us in providing exceptional nursing care. We believe everyone should be able to live a full life no matter what they may be going through and our staff strive to make a difference in someone’s life.

Dementia Care

Our home provides specialist dementia care. Dementia is a condition that affects parts of the brain such as the ability to remember, communicate and rationalise. Residents living with dementia can continue to live their lives the way they want to by receiving appropriate care for their needs and ensuring their well-being is looked after.

At Valerian Court Care Home, we are aware that every individual requires a different level of care and that some living with dementia may only require minimal support while others will require much more. We will continue to evaluate residents’ needs on a regular basis to ensure that effective care is always being given.

Respite Care

Respite care is available at Valerian Court and provides short-term care for those recovering from an illness or hospital stay, which will aid in someone’s recovery. Those who are caring full-time for their loved ones will benefit greatly from a respite service, as it enables them to have time off from their duties.

Respite care also provides the opportunity for someone to experience a trial stay at a care home for a few weeks before deciding whether to move in fully. No matter how long someone requires care and support for, all residents will receive only the highest standards of person-centred care.

Here During Every Step of The Process

Searching for a care home for you or a family member is something that requires a lot of thought. Moving someone to a care home or even knowing what type of care they will need can cause confusion and stress for everyone involved. We are here to help make the entire process that little bit easier.

We understand that each resident requires a different level of care, therefore we carefully assess our residents’ needs to create care plans tailored to them and them only. We welcome you into our home to meet with our friendly team and discuss the care options available. We want to ensure everyone feels at ease during this transitional period.
