A Sunny Start to Spring with the Mayor of Didcot

our home manager with the mayor of Didcot

We were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Didcot, Councillor Michael Pawlik, to help us officially open our beautiful roof terrace for the spring and summer season. With clear blue skies overhead and the scent of freshly baked scones in the air, the day couldn’t have been more perfect.

Residents, families and staff gathered on the terrace to enjoy a traditional homemade afternoon tea, complete with light-as-air scones, fresh cream and strawberry jam. There was plenty of tea poured and laughter shared as everyone soaked up the warm sunshine and stunning rooftop views.

The highlight of the afternoon was a lively performance from local musician Howard Hill. His toe-tapping tunes had smiles all round, and a few guests even sang along to old favourites. Howard’s music brought a joyful energy to the event and added to the sense of celebration as we welcomed the warmer months ahead.

The Mayor kindly took the time to chat with our residents and hear about their memories of springtime, community life and favourite musical moments from over the years. His presence meant a great deal to everyone, and we were honoured he could join us for such a special occasion.

The roof terrace has always been a favourite spot for our residents as it is a place to enjoy fresh air, gentle sunshine and quiet moments with friends and family. We’re thrilled to see it open once again for the season, and we’re looking forward to many more afternoons like this one.

With the weather continuing to improve, we will also offer al fresco dining for our residents. They will have the chance to enjoy their meals alongside their friends or loved ones on our beautiful patio while enjoying views of the local area. It is important to us at Valerian Court that our residents have full flexibility on where they want to enjoy their meals, and we are thrilled to be able to offer them another option now that the weather is improving.

If you're considering care for a loved one and want to learn more about our welcoming home and vibrant calendar of events, we’d love to invite you for a visit. Get in touch today and book a tour, we can't wait to hear from you.
