A Serene Sail With the Accessible Boat Club

This month brought sunshine, song and smiles as we launched a heartwarming new partnership with the Wallingford-based Accessible Boat Club. A group of our residents set off for a peaceful sail along the Thames, surrounded by the gentle beauty of the river and the sights and sounds of a classic English summer.
For Evelyn, it was her very first time on the water, and she absolutely loved it. She sat back with a warm breeze on her face and took in every moment with quiet joy. Together with two fellow residents, she spotted an impressive six kingfishers darting across the riverbanks, as well as swans, dragonflies, and the unmistakable call of a cuckoo!
After a rather grey start to the day, the skies soon cleared and the sun appeared just in time for our afternoon on the boat. Before leaving, our in-house kitchen team made a delicious picnic full of their favourite sandwiches, snacks, fruit and sweet treats. As we drifted down the river, we all enjoyed the wonderful picnic with stories and laughter.

It’s these kinds of outings that bring so much joy to daily life at Valerian Court, as they give our residents the chance to try something new and create lasting memories with their friends. Our partnership with the Accessible Boat Club has only just begun and we’re already looking forward to our next adventure on the water.
