At Valerian Court, we strive to ensure that each of our residents lives a rich and meaningful life with independence and choice, and our full activities programme is a brilliant example of how we make it happen. We believe that residents should enjoy the time spent with us, whether that be through their hobbies and interests, or by making general use of our facilities. Our dedicated and professional team have made it their top priority to ensure there is something for everyone to take part in and enjoy.

Our weekly activities programme is a brilliant addition to Valerian Court that residents can use on a regular basis. The Activities Coordinators work around the clock to create all-inclusive activities each week, which are both enjoyable and beneficial to our residents. Some resident favourites include film evenings, bingo or quizzes, gardening, exercise classes and many more. We also value the importance of playing our part in the local community, so schedule trips to destinations in and around Didcot on a regular basis.

It is vital to us that our residents spend each day enjoying the experiences and memories they make at Valerian Court. We believe that each individual should choose what they’d like to include in their daily routine in order to develop their interests and hobbies and allow them to live life as independently as they’d like to. Our full activities programme can be enjoyed in numerous settings, whether this is individually or in a group with other residents or their loved ones. The choice is all theirs!

We also regularly involve the local community with our events at our care home in Didcot to ensure our residents can stay connected to the area around them. From our fortnightly dementia café to our regular intergenerational activities with the local childminder group, we are always looking for ways to strengthen our community links.

Stimulating Activities for Everybody

Our Activities Coordinators work effortlessly to create a full activities programme with residents’ current hobbies and interests, and a range of new activities for them to try out if they wish. All activities cater to each individual’s needs and abilities. Some common activities you could expect when moving into Valerian Court are Tai Chi, Knit and Natter, baking club, ball games, music and reminiscence therapy and more. We regularly take on feedback from our residents and shape our activities program accordingly.

For those who are bed-bound or have additional needs, we provide dedicated 1:1 time slots where our team take the activities to them and provides companionship. It is important to us that every resident has the opportunity to continue doing the things they love, no matter their needs.

Performers visit Valerian Court on a regular basis, each offering something new to our residents. Some acts may return more regularly than others, and we try to incorporate this a few times a month.
